Oculus, the Facebook acquired company has after many developer kits and a long development time period, has finally unveiled and made available for purchase their finalised product, the Oculus Rift yesterday! The Rift has been much awaited by hardcore fans of Virtual Reality (VR) as it became a viral sensation since its crowdfunding campaign in Kickstarter.
The Rift is now available for pre orders, shipping to a total of 20 available countries as of launch date with more to follow.
The Rift however will begin shipping starting 28th of March.
Xbox One is finally getting its major update, slated to bring much awaited features such as Xbox 360 backwards compatibility for games and Windows 10. Microsoft has made changes to the Xbox One’s dashboard and has removed the Kinect 2.0 gestures, as usage statistics simply did not justify for the gestures to be transferred onto the latest update.
Five months ago, Microsoft took an unexpected turn with its Xbox One strategy and to everyone’s surprise announced during its keynote at E3 that Xbox 360 games are coming to Xbox One bringing backwards compatibility to their latest platform. YouTube for Android has just been updated to version 10.43.60 and has brought some UI changes along with the ability to watch any video in VR. Although this function was already present in the app, the option was only available for videos shot in VR.
Huawei is Google’s latest partner in delivering the new flagship Nexus phone, and this move does come in line with Huawei’s plan on expanding outside the Chinese market where it resides. The Nexus 6P which is Huawei’s take on the Nexus line has started selling the phone on its own USA targeted website called www.gethuawei.com and it offers a bundle with the Nexus 6P and the Huawei Watch with 50 dollar discount.
Windows 10 is about to receive its first major update since its release last June. The update, called “Threshold 2” is for both the PC and Mobile versions of Windows 10 and it is said to feature improvements to the graphical interface of the OS and new icons, as well new universal apps for Skype and Messenger.
OnePlus, the Chinese company who turned the smartphone industry on its head with the OnePlus one has finally announced its latest addition, the OnePlus X, just three months after the announcement of the OnePlus One’s successor, the OnePlus Two using Virtual Reality. Although the company has been heavily criticised for its controversial invite system, the OnePlus X loyally follows the tradition.
