Xbox One gets updated, gets rid of Kinect’s gestures

Kinect gestures get axed

Xbox One is finally getting its major update, slated to bring much awaited features such as Xbox 360 backwards compatibility for games and Windows 10. Microsoft has made changes to the Xbox One’s dashboard and has removed the Kinect 2.0 gestures, as usage statistics simply did not justify for the gestures to be transferred onto the latest update.

As Kinect gestures get the axe from Microsoft, voice commands remain as part of the OS. However although voice commands remain as an integrated part of the OS, the reason for removing gestures is quite clear, as bundling Kinect 2.0 with Xbox One was admittedly a bad move and Microsoft was forced to cut the cord and start selling the Xbox One without a Kinect, in order to satisfy their market as Sony’s PlayStation 4 thrived due to its lower much more attractive price.
